<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt">La Red de Genero y Desastres y el Centro de Riesgos Naturales invitan a la presentacion de candidaturas de aquellas personas que deban ser reconocidas por sus esfuerzos para avanzar en la equidad de genero en la política, la practica o la investigacion en el ambito de la reducción de los riesgos de desastres. <o:p></o:p></P>

<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt">El Premio Mary Fran Myers fue fundado en el año 2002, <SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>reconoce que la construccion de las vulnerabilidades a los desastres y las emergencias colectivas tienen una relación directa con <SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>factores sociales, culturales y las estructuras económicas que marginan, discriminan y colocan en situacion de desventaja a las mujeres y las niñas, así como también exponen a los niños y a los hombres a los daños. <o:p></o:p></P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt"><o:p> </o:p></P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt">El premio fue nombrado asi para reconocer los esfuerzos que Myers realizo como Co-Directora del Centro de Riesgos Naturales de la Universidad de Colorado, USA, para poner en marcha una red en todo el mundo que promueva oportunidades para las mujeres en las profesiones relacionadas con la gestión de riesgos y el manejo de los desastres, así como apoyar la investigación académica que busque la equidad entre hombres y mujeres en la gestión del riesgo de desastres, incluyendo la generación de conocimiento, la <SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>prevencion de riesgos, el alertamiento temprano, la atención en las emergencias, la recuperación y la reconstruccipn.<o:p></o:p></P>

<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt">La intencion del Premio Mary Fran Myers “Genero y Desastres” es reconocer el trabajo realizado por mujeres y hombres en la promocion, investigación o gestion de esfuerzos para la reduccion de las vulnerabilidades ante los desastres con un efecto positivo y duradero. Son elegibles todas aquellas personas cuyo trabajo haya enriquecido el acervo de conocimientos sobre genero y desastres, que haya sido significativo para incluir el enfoque de genero en la practica o la teoria, o que haya ayudado a generar oportunidades para que las mujeres tengan éxito en este campo.<o:p></o:p></P>

<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt">El Comite de Selección esta especialmente interesado en solicitar candidaturas provenientes de fuera de los Estados Unidos de America USA, y ofrece cubrir los gastos de traslado para que los beneficiarios del Premio puedan asistir al Taller Anual del Centro de Riesgos Naturales en Colorado en 2009. </P>
