Dear Walter



I write from Ecuador, where I came to live after retiring (XI - 2002) of
Earth Sciences Division of UNESCO - Paris.



I wish that every think is going well for you and your family and thank you
for sending me the news from the Global Alliance for Disaster Reduction.



After a short consulting job for UNESCO in Montevideo in 2005, I started
(until today) giving class of Introduction to Geology for environmentalists
and civil engineers at UEES, which is a private university here in
Guayaquil.



The reason to bother you today is to recues your assistance to:



1. We has been requested to prepare a program to capacitate journalists
about the use of communication as a powerful tool, before, during and after
of a natural disasters to mitigate the negative impact. In this program, we
are including the creation of a manual to give to the journalists to the use
and study.



I will like to have your suggestion on this matter and if it the case you
know of similar seminar that have been done in other part of the word, the
same for the proposal Manual.



2.- Also we has been requested to organize a *Grancolombian* (Venezuela,
Colombia, Ecuador, Peru y Bolivia) *Seminar on Climatic Change*, for
June/July nest year, this is a subject that I do not very well, can you or
some body of the Global Alliance for Disaster Reduction can held me out on
the contend and on the potential guest speeches.
