Position: Policy related to Disaster Reduction and Community Resilience
Department: Human Geography, Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia
Deadline 30th of June
Disaster management is increasingly focusing on reducing the social vulnerability of people at risk. This requires an increased understanding of the social, political and economic factors which generate vulnerabilities to hazards and underlie the differential ability for people to cope with and make adaptations to reduce their risks. It also involves understanding how policy decisions by local and state governments can be improved to better encourage community resilience and contribute to effective adaptive responses to climate change.
Climate Risk CORE seeks a candidate with a PhD in social science or related discipline and possessing a demonstrated capacity to engage with government, communities and emergency management practitioners in order to undertake research in relation to how society adapts to the challenge of global climate change.
Macquarie University is an Equal Opportunity Employer with a commitment to diversity and social inclusion.
