ECIE, or Electronic Communication and Information Exchange is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose general mission is to promote an open exchange of information and ideas by using the tools of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). Founded in 2000 by a group of individuals of Peruvian heritage, the primary focus of ECIE is in training and motivating Hispanic communities to use the Internet as a means for expanding their horizons and opening new roads of opportunities for themselves and their families.

With members living both in the United States and in Peru, some of ECIE's projects have a distinct Peru-USA connection. However, many of these projects are equally applicable to other Latin-American countries. The basic premise of these projects is to encourage an open communication between peoples in order to work together for a better world.

ECIE is a 501(c)(3) organization with community oriented projects targeting various communities in the Puget Sound region. As a grass roots organization promoting the use of the Internet as a means to empower a community, we do not have the necessary resources to promote our methods to all of the communities in the region. As a result, we are forced to rely on a variety of unreliable sources as well as our own contributions. We believe so much in what we are doing and that it can have positive results that we continue to promote these ideas even though our funding remains scarce. If your business is community oriented and would like to help us build better communities for the future, we may have some sponsorship opportunities that could be a benefit to us all. The following page has more details if you are interested.

ECIE does not have the resources to fund a full time staff to carry out many of the projects that we are promoting. While we are unable to hire people for these projects, we can still offer exciting challenges and pioneering opportunities for those who want to blaze new trails. We are blazing a new trail into the future for our communities by using modern technologies and innovative ideas to connect and to empower them. If you would like to be part of this pioneering effort, to be part of a movement to change the world, then why not volunteer? If you have some computer skills and enjoy trying out new concepts and are not afraid to jump in to experiment with new ideas, you may be just the person we need. We may not be able to change the world, but we sure are going to make some noise! There is more information on the following page.
